A Backpacker’s Dream is two apps from one team: Backpacker, for travellers finding work, a bed, and people along their working holiday; and Backpacker Hire, for the local businesses who need them. We started in the Hunter Valley, and we’re building this the way we’d want it to work — for a backpacker turning up with a van and a visa, and for the farm, hostel, or pub trying to find good people fast. Yes — it’s free to download and use to find jobs, places to stay, and hangouts.

Do I book accommodation through the app?

No. Accommodation listings are for discovery — you see what’s nearby, then contact and book directly with the stay.

Who can post on Backpacker?

A business gets onto the platform by signing up in Backpacker Hire and posting from that account. If a listing looks off, email admin@abackpackersdream.com.au.

Where does the app work?

We’re launching first in the Hunter Valley region of NSW, with more regions to follow.

I run a business — is it free to list?

Basic listings are free. Paid plans add extras like photos and promoted happy-hour or event posts.
